First Impressions: September

I’ve tried quite a few new products recently, so thought why not make a post about them. I’m calling it ‘First Impressions’ because I don’t feel I’ve used them enough yet to give a full on review. I will be sure to pop up an updated review post later, and who knows some of them might make it into a favourites post. As always it’s mainly makeup items, but then I have included some haircare and skincare too.

I have to mention the Anastasia Beverley Hills Soft Glam palette first, it would be rude not to. I can’t even tell you how long I have wanted this palette for, and it certainly hasn’t disappointed. I always get drawn to warm toned eyeshadows, so this palette is perfect for me. It has a good range of colours, and you could easily make at least five different eye looks ranging from day to night. If I had to choose a favourite shade it would be dusty rose, I love applying it lightly as my transition shade, or mixing it with the darker shades to deepen the crease. I’ve read other reviews on this palette, and fallout from the shadows has been mentioned a few times. From trying this palette a few times now myself I would have to agree with this. It happens with some more than others, and I wouldn’t call this a negative…definitely not. It just means you need to dust off the access in the pans after each use, and I would recommend doing eye makeup before foundation. The buttery texture and pigment definitely outweighs the fallout issue. Trying this palette has made me fall in love with Anastasia eyeshadows, and I can’t wait for new palettes they will be bringing out in the future. If your interested in checking out this palette check it out here.

The next product I want to talk about is the Aussie Hair conditioning sprays. I have tried the miracle moist one before, and really liked it. So with this I thought I would try out some of their other ones. I bought the ‘miracle hair insurance’ and the ‘stop the break’ conditioning sprays. I’ve been using them for a few weeks now, and so far I really like them. I apply them to wet hair, leave it for 5 minutes and then blow dry. The thing they help with the most is detangling any knots I get in my hair. And I’ve started to find that if for some reason I don’t use one of them, my hair has more knots, and seems to tangle more easily. One thing I’ve noticed is my hair seems a bit flat, and I’m not sure if this is from these conditioning sprays or it’s from something else. I find myself adding dry shampoo to my roots after I’ve dried my hair, to try and give it a bit of lift. I will continue to use these sprays until there all gone, but I am also on the look out for a new one. I have heard very good things about the brand Pureology and cannot wait to try their products, especially the conditioning spray in the range.

Another haircare item I bought recently is the Schwarzkopf Oh So Natural flexible hairspray. I saw it on offer when I was in boots, and liked the sound of it being ‘flexible’. Whenever I use hairspray it always makes my hair go stiff and feel really heavy…if that makes any sense. I only really use it if I’m wearing my hair up, or if I curl it for a night out. But I rarely style my hair other than straighten, just because I haven’t found a hairspray that I get on with. This one is my favourite I have tried so far, as it is lightweight and I like the fact my hair still has a bit of movement. I used it the other weekend when I curled my hair, and it managed to hold the curls in place all night. Im always on the look out for a new hairspray though, just because I’ve not found the perfect match for me. If anyone has any recommendations of ones you’ve tried and love, please share.

That’s the new products I’ve tried this month, not as many as I would normally have to talk about. But I’m trying to be more careful with money, and not spend it on stuff I don’t really need. This is way easier to say than actually do, especially with all the amazing new products coming out recently. I’ve recently ran out of liquid foundation, so thats a new thing I will need to buy soon though. I would love to know what new products you’ve tried recently, and please send you’re recommendations my way.
